Harvest Offering
One of Paul’s reasons for writing to the Romans was to tell them of his plans to visit Rome on his way to Spain. But first, he explained, he had to go to Jerusalem to take the church there a financial gift from the churches in Asia Minor. He made the point that Christ Jesus came from the Jews and the Jews having shared their spiritual riches with the Gentile churches should be able to expect the Gentile churches to share their financial resources.
One of Paul’s driving concerns was to promote this partnership and unity between Christians from Jewish and Gentile backgrounds. This concept of churches sharing in the partnership of the gospel is still relevant today.
Hence, the Church Committee has decided this year to use our Harvest Offering to support a Presbyterian Congregation in another part of Ireland.
There have been exciting developments in recent times in Drogheda.
Drogheda Presbyterian Church
Drogheda Presbyterian Church has grown and expanded but its’ facilities are very restricted. The Board of Mission in Ireland is supporting the Drogheda congregation in building a new church on the outskirts of the town in an area that has seen great housing development. The potential for the Good News is tremendous. The Minister of Drogheda is the Rev John Woodside who spoke at a mission in Legacurry a number of years ago. Our Harvest Offering can help move this exciting development forward.

‘Upper Room Project’
One of the exciting outreach ventures attached to Drogheda Presbyterian Church is the ‘Upper Room Project.’ Many of you will remember Eamon Doyle of the Irish Mission telling us about this project at a morning service in Legacurry in June last year. An upstairs room in the heart of Drogheda has been rented and renovated as a drop-in centre used especially on market day. The team has made many significant contacts and seen people coming to faith in Christ through it. Eamon is soon to move to a different posting in Naas but wants to leave the ‘Upper Room’ in a solid position to continue under the existing team. £1000 would secure the rental of the facility up to Christmas.
